NEAUA Announces First Research Scholar
The New England Section is very pleased to announce that after thorough review, Dr. Anthony Schaeffer at Children’s Hospital Boston has been named the first AUA/NEAUA Research Scholar! Dr. Schaeffer’s project, “PROMIS-ing Continence: Development and Validation of a Novel Patient-Reported Pediatric Urinary Incontinence Measure” will be conducted under the mentorship of Caleb P. Nelson, MD, Jin-Shei Lai, PhD and Karen A. Kuhlthau, PhD. Please join the New England Section in congratulating Dr. Schaeffer for this outstanding achievement!

NEAUA Past President Dr. Brendan M. Fox to Receive Distinguished Service Award
The AUA recently announced that Dr. Brendan M. Fox, NEAUA and AUA Past President, will receive a Distinguished Service Award in 2013 and will be honored at the AUA Annual Meeting this May in San Diego, California. Distinguished Service Awards are presented annually to individuals who are deemed to have made outstanding contributions to the goals of the AUA. Dr. Brendan M. Fox will receive this award for his outstanding contributions in long-term strategic planning, in integrating AUA’s Foundation, and excellent service as Historian, President and mentor. International Children's Continence Society Meeting in Toronto, June 6-8, 2013
The International Children's Continence Society and International Continence Society and its organizing committee would like to invite attend its meeting June 6-8, 2013 in Toronto: Moving Beyond Pediatric Incontinence: The Challenges of Transitional Care. The abstract acceptance deadline has been extended to January 15, 2013. The 2½ day meeting will host a broad range of healthcare professionals as they address educational gaps and new advances in the field. On Wednesday, May 18, 2011 NEAUA President Dr. Timothy Hopkins joined over 150 urologists participating in an Afternoon on the Hill - an opportunity for AUA Annual Meeting attendees to take urology's message to Capitol Hill. During this event, participants met with 70 Senate offices, including 11 meetings directly with their Senator. Urologists advocated for AUA's bills, the PROSTATE Act and the Urotrauma bill, repeal of the sustainable growth rate (SGR) and the Independent Payment Advisory Board, and the preservation of the in-office ancillary services exception (IOAE) to the Stark laws.
