NEAUA Member Dr. Subbarao Yalla to Receive AUA Award in 2012
The AUA recently announced that Dr. Subbarao V. Yalla, MD of Newburyport, Massachusetts will receive the Victor A. Politano Award in 2012 and will be honored at the AUA Annual Meeting this May in Atlanta, Georgia.
The Victor A. Politano Award is presented annually to an individual for outstanding research and work in the field of incontinence and for enhancing the treatment of incontinent patients, thereby helping to improve their quality of life. Subbarao V. Yalla, MD, NEAUA Member, will receive this award for outstanding research in the basic understanding of bladder physiology, enhancing the diagnosis of voiding disorders and lighting the path for many young investigators.

Urology Advocates on Capitol Hill During Annual Meeting

On Wednesday, May 18, 2011 NEAUA President Dr. Timothy Hopkins joined over 150 urologists participating in an Afternoon on the Hill - an opportunity for AUA Annual Meeting attendees to take urology's message to Capitol Hill. During this event, participants met with 70 Senate offices, including 11 meetings directly with their Senator. Urologists advocated for AUA's bills, the PROSTATE Act and the Urotrauma bill, repeal of the sustainable growth rate (SGR) and the Independent Payment Advisory Board, and the preservation of the in-office ancillary services exception (IOAE) to the Stark laws.
